Just a note to say thanks to all of my friends and family who are so generously and overwhelmingly supportive. It really, really, really does help! Your outpouring of love and kindness to me, Ray and my girls is very comforting. I'll never forget it. With you all by my side I know I'll get through this! Bev

Blood Facts
White blood cells (leukocytes)are needed to fight infection. Normal range is 4,500 to 11,000. Red blood cells (erythrocytes)pick up oxygen in the lungs and transport it to tissues throughout the body. They also pick up carbon dixoide from tissues and transport it back to the lungs where it is exhaled. Normal range is 4.0 - 5.2 million. Platelets (thrombocytes), the smallest cell elementsin the bloodstream are needed to control bleeding. Normal range is 150,000 to 350,000. Hemoglobin gives red blood cells their color and carries oxygen from the lungs to cells. Normal range in women is 12 - 15 grams per deciliter. A significant anemia occurs when hemoglobin drops below 10g/dl. My numbers are no where near any of those listed above, so you can easily see why I have to be so careful. I am very susceptible to infection and can easily bleed if I cut myself. I have to be masked when I leave the house, particularly around construction sites, I can't dig in the garden, color my hair, wear contact lenses, drink alcohol or drive. I have to avoid crowds and people with colds or who are not feeling well.

More of the same today. Food is starting to revulse me. My numbers are falling and I am now considered neutropenic. I am exactly where I should be but forgive me for being blunt - I'm whopped and getting into bed! Love to all!
I am sorry I have not been reading the blog. I figured you would be not be up to keeping up with it. As usual, I was wrong! Thank you (and Stephanie) for keeping the rest of us mortals informed. I am continually reminded of your strength and courage! If anyone can go through all of this with grace, it is you :) We are praying harder than ever and you are always in our thoughts (all of you!). We love you!
Hang in there Bev! Glad to hear that all is going according to plan. Thoughts and prayers continue to be with you. Love, Andrea
